Indo Persian Mamluk Rug

290 x 200cm, 9'6" x 6'6"

An Indo Persian Rug with a traditional Mamluk pattern woven in wool. The rug has an intricate design of flowers, fronds and trees, with abrashed rich red, sky blue and beige-cream tones delineating the fine details of each motif. The rug also showcases a large star-like flower medallion in the central area, a classic feature of Mamluk Rug design.

The design of Mamluk Rugs originates from Egyptian Mamluk Rugs and dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries. These rugs and their modern counterparts are known for complex and detailed floral patterns and fine weaves. This rug was woven in excellent quality wool and, as such, is soft to the touch and very durable. The rug is in excellent condition and has no signs of wear.

This Indo Persian Rug featuring a Mamluk design is a complementary addition to both traditional and contemporary rooms. The rug's mix of rich and soft colours and highly detailed patterns make it a statement piece for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms.
