Qashqai weaving is an important part of the textile history of Fars in southern Iran. The confederation’s varied groups produced rugs and other furnishings within a broad culture of tribal and domestic weaving. Geometric organisation and a rich assortment of small field motifs are familiar features of that wider tradition. This vintage Persian example balances a concentrated medallion with a much finer surrounding drawing.

A dark lobed medallion occupies the middle of this rug, its small cream floral centre surrounded by intricate red and blue detail. Larger curled motifs sit in the red field beyond it, while tiny geometric ornaments continue into the darker corner areas. Narrow patterned bands complete the frame. The combination gives the central shape a clear presence without leaving the surrounding field unoccupied.

At 243 × 171 cm, this rug could bring warm patterned colour to a bedroom or smaller sitting area. Cream upholstery would answer the light central detail, while dark wood could relate to the corner passages. A simply shaped table would allow the lobed outline to remain legible around its base. The larger curls and tiny scattered devices offer different viewing scales.

From across a room, red and the dark centre establish the composition. Nearby, small angular flowers and the close border repeat become more apparent. Pale marks around the medallion also help separate its inner layers, making the middle more intricate than its broad silhouette initially suggests.
