This vintage Persian Luri rug is a strong example of tribal weaving from western Iran. Hand-knotted by Luri weavers, it features a dense wool pile and a richly layered palette of terracotta, madder red and deep indigo, softened by natural abrash (subtle colour variation) across the field.
The design is arranged in vertical rows of elongated, hexagonal medallions, each containing small hooked forms and floral devices that are typical of Luri village work.
