Our most recent residential project is a game of two sides, with each contestant bringing their own unique flare to the court! If you’ve ever wondered how to marvellously mingle a classic-style rug with a modern piece all in one space, then look no further, as we have a quick look into this eclectic home in South West London.
This charming interior is filled with bright, vibrant colours and styled beautifully with bold furniture and fabrics and London House were digging it!
This client has a good eye for design and was keen to find two contrasting rugs that complemented the interior while creating a slightly different atmosphere on either side of the downstairs living area.
Taking inspiration from the eye-catching artwork and stipples of pink throughout the living room, London House handpicked a collection of pink Vintage Overdyed rugs, which would add a pop of colour without overpowering the room. These Vintage Overdyes undergo a unique dyeing and finishing process so that even the brightest colours can appear almost paired back due to their distressed, knocked back finish.
These rugs are the perfect choice for blending new with old due to their subtle, faded traditional patterns.
As you head through the double doors into the Main reception room, the furniture continues the traditional aspect, yet the rug tells another story entirely. This bespoke Berber-style rug is hand made using fine bamboo silk with a high low pile, a weaving technique that allows the linear designs to be raised slightly from the background, emphasising the detail and allowing for a cleaner line. The design of this bespoke rug takes inspiration from Moroccan Beni Orian rugs, with the added twist of having a lustrous finish, exuding more laid-back lux than shaggy Bohemian!
The colour of the linear design woven throughout this rug was chosen very specifically to match both the table and the mustard furnishings in the living room. This requires an almost orangy gold colour for continuity’s sake, with each area giving a friendly nod to the other!
