This bold Persian Shiraz Kilim Rug was woven by hand in Southern Persia in the late 1900s. It is knotted with 100% wool and with a classic flat weave technique of firmly interlocking the woollen fibres to make the surface flat. This can also be referred to as a slit weave textile.
The central field of this rug is an abrash red colour and has been left plain, while the borders feature richly coloured geometric patterns. These borders are a classic tribal design and provide an excellent contrast to the more pastel coloured field.
Due to the simplicity of the centre of this South Persian Shiraz Kilim Rug, this piece is a great choice if you’re looking to bring bold colours to your interior, while maintaining a minimalist look. The lightly toned salmon pink is neutral enough to pair with a wide variety of colours while the geometric style border adds a playful element to the rug.
