A classic, decorative Afghan Ziegler Rug hand knotted with a beautiful combination of greys, rich creams and dashes of red. Ziegler rugs are also sometimes referred to as Peshawar or Chobi rugs. The word ‘Chobi’ means ‘wood’, which refers to the natural colouring from the dyes used to colour the wool. Afghan Ziegler rugs are very hard-wearing as they are woven using excellent quality Afghan wool, famed for its durability.
This Ziegler Rug has a traditional palmette and frond design, with the darker grey field contrasting against these motifs, accented by red detailing. The same is true of the border, but the primary colour has been changed to rich cream, again accented by red but also the darker grey found in the central field of the rug.
The softer tones and floral shapes woven throughout this rug are suited to a variety of spaces. Traditional settings with soft colour palettes often see Ziegler rugs used as a central feature, but more minimalist and contemporary rooms also use these rugs to add a focal point of more complex design detailing.
