A pictorial Contemporary Gabbeh Rug with a natural decorative design, hand knotted in Afghanistan. Soft and rich colours are used throughout the design against a cream ground for a more modern look.
Gabbeh rugs have their roots in Southern Iran and these pieces influence rug makers worldwide to this day. Animals, trees and flowers are featured in traditional Gabbeh rugs but are much more geometric. The rich reds, combined with the soft browns, blues, greens, pinks, etc., help create a more realistic scene compared to traditional Gabbeh rug counterparts.
The rug has a very soft pile and is hand knotted in lustrous Afghan wool, making it very durable.
The more natural, pictorial nature of the rug’s design means it can be incorporated into many different spaces. It would be best placed in rooms with softer colouring and would fit with minimalist styles as well as classic pastel settings. Living rooms and bedrooms would be of key consideration for this piece.
