A Contemporary Gabbeh Rug with a modernised traditional design, hand knotted in Afghanistan. The use of contemporary, contrasting colours also gives the rug a more modern feel.
Gabbeh rugs originated in Southern Iran, and weavers across the rug making world continue to take influence from these original pieces. The depiction of animals, trees and flowers is often found in traditional Gabbeh rugs, but they are usually more geometric in nature. The rich pinks, greens, oranges and vibrant light blues contrast beautifully with the grey ground colour, further enhancing the clarity of the design.
This piece is hand knotted with excellent quality and lustrous Afghan wool. As such, it is very hardwearing with a full, soft pile.
As this rug takes influence from traditional designs, it is suited both to modern and classic spaces. The contemporary colours go well with bold, vibrant styles, while the pattern compliments more reserved decors. The rug can be laid in any room but would be an excellent addition to bedrooms in particular.
