An Antique Persian Shiraz Rug hand knotted circa 1890 in the South of Iran. This rug features an ornate three-point central pole medallion with three large hexagon motifs, and these are bordered by geometric animal, plant and lozenge patterns. Rich red-brown, royal blue and cream colours decorate this rug, delineating the classic tribal design details.

Persian Shiraz Rugs are some of the most iconic tribal Persian Rugs you can find and are made in and around Shiraz city in southern Iran. They were woven by nomadic peoples and the full patternation of this rug is an excellent example of their 19th-century aesthetic. The rug has also been woven with excellent quality wool by weavers whose technique dates back thousands of years, making this piece extremely durable. In very good overall condition, the rug has some areas of even wear and still maintains a lot of its pile.

This richly coloured Antique Persian Shiraz Rug is a fantastic design piece for traditional room settings and also as a contrasting feature for modern spaces. The rug best suits living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, adding warmth and character to these areas.
