An antique rug from the Ferahan district, located in central Iran, south of Tehran and near the cities of Arak, Kashan and Qum which was home to the original Ferahan rugs.
Ferahan rugs are made on a cotton foundation with soft, thin wool knotted in an asymmetrical fashion. Rugs from this district can vary in style but in general are excellent in quality with beautiful natural dyes and are exceptionally durable. This piece has an unusual green highlight colour in the main field and is in good condition for it age, circa: 1910.
