A vibrant Antique Anatolian Milas Rug knotted by hand circa 1920. The rug features bold red ground colours, rich yellows, rich oranges and warm grey tones. A three-point geometric diamond medallion runs through the middle of the rug, with angular flowers and fronds surrounding it in multiple borders. Further deep red diamond motifs are woven within the main, large border.

Anatolian Milas Rugs are from the South West of Anatolia (now part of Turkey) and are known for their vibrant colours. This rug has a strong woollen pile and was woven by highly skilled weavers. The weaving tradition of these rugs can be traced back to the 17th century. By the 19th century, these rugs were well known and regularly exported to Europe.

A very unique example of a Milas from the early 20th century, the rug's full colours and balanced design are sure to stand out in any setting. This Antique Anatolian Milas Rug complements both traditional and contemporary spaces, a perfect statement piece for living rooms, studies and bedrooms.
