An ornate Antique Anatolian Kilim Rug knotted by hand in the early 1900s. The rug features a detailed geometric design of hexagon and diamond motifs using a mixture of both rich and pale colours. The central area of the rug features a pale grey ground, which brings out the contrasting reds of the central lozenge.
Often seen within Anatolian Kilim Rugs, this piece has three defined design areas running through the middle of the rug. The rug has been coloured using natural dyes, and as the rug was woven horizontally and not vertically, this piece has no pile. Anatolian kilim rugs can sometimes be referred to as flatwoven rugs or flatweaves.
Though having some shape variation, almost always seen in antique kilims, the rug is in good condition and has minimal signs of wear.
