A softly coloured Afghan Kazak Runner with a large geometric design of embellished diamonds and palmettes. Contrary to many Kazak Runners, this piece is more pastel in colour and has a pale cream ground with royal blues and pastel red tones throughout the design. The pattern can be traced back to Antique Caucasian motifs, which had smaller, more closely packed designs when compared to their modern counterparts.
There are two grand diamond medallions in the centre of the runner, with palmettes surrounding each area. Other floral and palmette motifs are featured in the borders to frame the central Kazak design. This Afghan Runner has precise lines and uses geometric patternation with the pastel red and royal blue colour in the borders accentuating the central medallions against the cream ground.
The runner is hand knotted from Afghan wool and therefore is very hard-wearing and possess a lustrous pile. As this Kazak uses softer tones compared to the majority of Kazaks, it can easily blend with light, classic spaces and add colour to minimalist ones. It is a traditional tribal runner that can be used in many areas like bedrooms and living rooms as well as various hallway sizes.
