This soft yet vibrantly coloured Afghan Kazak Runner is hand knotted and takes influence from geometric, tribal patterns from the Caucasus region. The diamond medallions in the middle of the runner are a traditional Kazak feature and the sharp, clean edges give this piece a very defined look. This is aided by using pale blue and cream tones contrasted with darker greens, blues and rich reds.
The seven distinct diamond medallions are typical of Kazak design and are adorned with additional frond patterns. These stand out as they seem to float on top of the pale blue ground colour. The borders utilise a cream ground colour with darker blues and rich reds used to accentuate the small flowers and palmettes. This Kazak Runner also has small abstract stars woven between each medallion, and these patterns can also be associated with Egyptian rugs.
The runner is woven using Afghan wool, making it very hard-wearing and giving a soft lustre to the piece. A perfect runner for darker hallways, bedrooms and studies.
