This rather animated Afghan Kazak Rug has been hand knotted and introduces tribal patterns taking influence from the Caucasus region. Although shapes are of a traditional Kazak style, the geometric design and sharp edges add a modernness to the piece, which is furthered by the use of bright green and red contrasting with the blue coloured field.
The three eye-catching central lozenges are true to Kazak form, with their jagged edges containing floral head shapes. Still, interestingly, this particular Kazak also boasts several star-shaped patterns associated more so with Egyptian rug design.
Kazak rugs are woven from Afghan wool and this is what makes them highly durable and gives them a shimmering appearance.
