A bold Afghan Kazak Rug with jagged star and lozenge geometric medallions. This rug has a vibrant red field colour with secondary cream, pale blue and pale orange tones. Its design has its roots from antique pieces originally woven in the Caucasus region hundreds of years ago. Modern woven Kazak rugs have designs that are more widely spaced when compared to their Caucasian counterparts.
Kazak rug design is geometric in nature, and this is why these pieces have very defined lines. The central medallions of the rug are large diamonds and lozenges and are the dominating feature of this piece. The pale cream and pale blue within these central motifs brightens the rug and gives it a lighter feel when compared to the heavier red tones. This is enhanced further by the same cream and blue colours in the borders.
The rug is hand knotted and uses wool from Afghanistan. It is highly durable and lustrous, which gives the rug a smooth sheen.
This traditional Afghan Kazak Rug would sit well in a bold and eclectic room setting, whether the space was contemporary or traditional. Soft underfoot, this piece may be the perfect companion for living rooms and bedrooms.
