Starting in the second half of the twentieth century, Hamadan has become famous for its enormous carpet production. Weaving has had a significant impact on the local economy and has improved the lifestyles of weavers and their families.
Rugs and carpets woven in the villages throughout Hamadan are known worldwide, woven using symmetrical knots with a cotton foundation and wool pile. They are designed in the Afshan, Herati, and Fish styles, and the colours are generally Red, Blue, Navy Blue, Beige, Yellow, White, Orange, Cream.
