Dark rounded medallions follow the ivory centre of this runner in a single ordered column. Small coloured details fill their interiors, while pointed ornaments approach from the sides between them. Intricate geometric borders enclose the light field, adding a much finer scale of pattern around the larger central forms.

This runner has a clear balance between open ground and dense surround. The ivory leaves each medallion enough space to remain distinct, while the darker borders provide a firm outline along the floor. At 78 by 307 centimetres, the format would suit an extended hall or landing, where the full sequence can be followed from either end. Bokhara is a trade and design name associated with carpets drawing on Turkmen ornamental traditions. Repeated gul medallions are a familiar feature of that wider vocabulary, adapted in many later interpretations.

This Afghan Bokhara runner uses a narrow central column, giving the round forms a particularly clear directional role. Warm boards would complement the ivory, while pale stone would make the dark surround more prominent. Plain painted joinery could provide a quieter setting for the border detail. Look closely and the little internal medallion marks introduce further changes of colour within the restrained overall palette. This runner would be most effective where its perimeter remains visible, preserving the distinction between the measured central sequence and the more concentrated geometric drawing that frames it throughout the length.
